Evan Rachel Wood

When I met Rachel she was on a press junket in Rome for the airing of the HBO drama True Blood in Europe. I knew she was staying in a modern hotel and decided to fill a truck with Gothic props hoping to find a big enough empty space to set up a studio. We ended up using a hallway in the basement that connected to the kitchen of the hotel. It was narrow and long. People kept crossing the set coming from the kitchen holding trays full of food. Rachel had to change behind the photo backdrop and her hair and makeup were done in a tiny bathroom next to the hallway. The whole place smelt of food and it was unbearably hot and humid. Looking at the pictures, I always think this was a small miracle.
