The Incompiuto Siciliano was my first collaboration with the art performance collective Alterazioni Video. Small towns in Southern Italy and particularly in Sicily have obtained government money to build large public projects absolutely disproportionate to the size of the town. These projects are almost never finished. A typical example is the financing of 5.5 million dollars received by the city of Giarre (27.000 people) to build a Polo Stadium that was never finished. Giarre is also the town with the highest concentration of unfinished projects. All together an investment of public money close to 70 million dollars. Alterazioni Video wanted to bring the problem to the world’s attention and, ironically, re-purpose the unused buildings as tourist attractions.
